ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ Chapter Advocacy Task Force

Influencing Public Policy at State, Provincial and Local Levels

The ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ Chapter Advocacy Task Force informs, empowers, and mobilizes chapter leaders to advocate for health information and technology public policy at the state, provincial, and local levels.  Task force members serve as strong, coordinated voices and sources of information related to health information and technology, health transformation, and ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ public policy priorities. The task force meets monthly and provides an opportunity for networking and peer-to-peer learning.

Advocacy Key Aspects

  • Education and Thought Leadership: We hold advocacy days to educate and form relationships with elected officials.
  • Relationship and Coalition Building: We partner with like-minded organizations and leverage individual and collective influence around issues. 
  • Monitoring and Analysis: We analyze and monitor legislation, regulations, policies and practices to identify advocacy and partnership opportunities.

The Chapter Advocate Role

  • Become familiar with ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ resources and priorities.
  • Create an advocacy plan and regularly update chapter leaders and ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ staff on progress, successes and challenges.
  • Participate in regular Chapter Advocacy meetings to hear news, share updates with and learn from your peers.
  • Gain recognition for your efforts through the Chapter Advocacy Recognition Program.
  • Maintain relationships with and educate key public and private stakeholders about ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ priorities.
  • Monitor regulations, administrative actions and legislation on issues important to your chapter.
  • Summarize public policy updates for membership.

Public Policy Priorities

  • Connected Health: Enabling greater access to care through telehealth, remote patient monitoring and broadband technologies.
  • Cybersecurity and Privacy: Balancing the rapid transformation of the health system with appropriate privacy and security measures to protect patients.
  • Interoperability: Ensuring information is shared and standardized across information systems that enable public health, care coordination and improved health outcomes.
  • Value-Based Care: Prioritizing the delivery of higher quality and outcomes-focused care that leverages technology for care coordination and supports patients on the path to better health.
